About Justin
Spears grew up in Tucson, Ariz. and is currently a senior at the University of Arizona and will graduate in May 2017 with a bachelors degree in Journalism while minoring in History. Spears made his mark at the Arizona School of Journalism last May winning the Abe Chanin Award for Excellence in Sports Writing as well as the Many Hats Award for outstanding contribution to Arizona Student Media.
Upon arrival at UA in 2013, Spears began his sports broadcasting career hosting a weekly one-hour radio show on KAMP 1570 AM called "On The Ball" and has continued the show for four years.
His career took him into the television industry in 2014 and he became one of the most prominent anchors and personalities for UATV hosting numerous sports talk shows. Then Spears became a beat writer for the Daily Wildcat in 2014 and eventually becoming a senior writer as well as assistant sports editor. In the summer of 2015, Spears interned for Zach Clark at ESPN Tucson editing and creating sound clips for the show.
During his involvement with Arizona Student Media, Spears also became a correspondent for Sports Illustrated Campus Rush providing out of the norm stories from Arizona football and men's basketball.

Spears has broken stories, spoken with the Charlotte Hornets about NBA Draft prospects, worked other sports media gigs all while managing a part-time weekend job at IHOP for five years.
